One of the things that makes God of War Ragnarok better than its predecessor is the variety of boss fights. While in the previous game, boss fights were only variants in types, in the case of Ragnarok, we see many more variants, each bringing something new to the game. The bigger size of Ragnarok allowed developers to put more side quests and side areas to explore and enemies to fight for more resources. One of the enemies you might end up fighting is The Ash Tyrant dragon, and here is how to beat it in God of War Ragnarok.
How to Beat the Ash Tyrant God of War Ragnarok
The Ash Tyrant dragon is the boss fight of The Burning Skies quest, which you are tasked to kill. Once you reach The Sinkholes, the dragon will appear and start breathing fire at you in order to prevent you from entering its layer.
Once you finally reach The Sinkholes, the fight between you and the dragon will begin. Compared to the other dragons you fight in the game, like The Crimson Dread, this dragon doesn’t attack you directly much but uses its fire breath to deal damage.
In this situation, your best weapon is the Draupnir Spear, so you can keep your distance to have enough time to dodge its fire attacks and deal damage. The only time Ash Tyrant uses a claw attack is at the beginning, which can be parried or dodged.
Looking at its neck, you should be able to see the glowing spot, which is Ash Tyrant’s weak spot that you must aim for. Hitting the spot successfully will incapacitate the dragon for a short period that you must use to unleash all sorts of attacks you know.
After dealing some damage, a few Darugr and a Wyvern will come as well. You have to kill them first. Otherwise, they will cause a lot of trouble for you. In this sequence, the dragon will stand on one of the pillars and starts to burn you with his breath.
The trick here to deal damage is to throw your Draupnir Spear on one of the points in the pillar and then detonate it. It will make the dragon injured. After that, The Ash Tyrant will switch between throwing projectile or breath firing.
How to Get the Berserker Gear in God of War Ragnarok
Its breath firing will be unblockable, so you have to dodge them. If you have stored some Spartan Rage, you can use it while the dragon is breathing fire at you. That is all the techniques this dragon will use to kill you, and once you deal enough damage, the finisher will appear, and you can kill the Ash Tyrant.
