The Grass Gym Leader of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is most players’ second stop for the Victory Road storyline. It is recommended to have Pokémon leveled up to least level 17 when tackling the Gym as Brassius’s ace is the same level. There are three Pokémon to battle in total and there is plenty of time to set up if players want to use stat raising moves or X Items. This is everything players need to know about how to beat Brassius, the Grass Gym Leader in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

How to beat the Grass Gym Leader Brassius in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Before players have a chance of taking on the Grass Gym of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, they will have to pass the Gym Test and find 10 Sunflora. Brassius has three Pokémon with two at level 16 and one at level 17. Players can take advantage of this by overleveling, but for players seeking a challenge at just level 17, it is recommended to bring Pokémon that resist Grass Type attacks with moves that are super effective against Grass Types.

  • Grass Resisting Types - Fire, Flying, Grass, Poison, Steel, Bug, and Dragon. Super Effective Against Grass - Fire, Flying, Bug, Ice, and Poison.

Brassius’s own Pokémon include Petilil with Sleep Powder and Mega Drain, as well as Smoliv with Tackle and Razor Leaf at level 16. Smoliv is a Grass/Normal Type, giving it a Fighting weakness. His ace is Sudowoodo, a Rock Type that has the Grass Tetra Type and both Trailblaze and Rock Throw. If Brassius chooses to Terastallize Sudowoodo, the same weakness applies, but otherwise, it will be Rock Type only. Fighting, Steel, Ground, Grass, and Water moves will deal super effective damage to it so plan the Type match up accordingly.
