Horizon Forbidden West is the sequel to 2017’s Horizon Zero Dawn. In this sequel, Guerilla Games have increased the size of the map and given players more to explore and do in the Forbidden West. While Horizon Zero Dawn took place in areas of the United State’s northwestern states, Horizon Forbidden West will take place on the west coast of the States — assumedly in states like Oregon and California.

Horizon Forbidden West is promised to be both larger in size and give players more to do. While speaking to IGN, the game’s director, Mathijs de Jonge, said that the map for Forbidden West will be “slightly larger,” though his team emphasized giving players more to do in the world rather than simply expanding its size. While we have not seen the game’s full map yet, fans can assume that it will be expansive and full.

How big was Horizon Zero Dawn’s map?

Horizon Zero Dawn took place in the northwest of the United States, spanning the states of Colorado, Wyoming, and Utah. While these regions of the United States aren’t known for their bustling infrastructure or landmarks, Horizon Zero Dawn managed to keep players busy and interested with its map spanning nearly 40 miles worth of land.
