Red Crystals, which Sylens refers to as “Firegleam,” is an obstacle in Horizon Forbidden West that blocks the entryways for particular areas. Players will encounter these obstructive clusters of crystal growth while exploring The Daunt and No Man’s Land. Aloy will need a specific tool to destroy the combustible crystals and open the blocked path. More specifically, players must craft a Special Gear item known as the Igniter, an upgrade for Aloy’s spear that can detonate Firegleam. Additionally, Horizon Forbidden West fans can use the Igniter to destroy other barriers in the environment, opening up pathways for secret areas and hidden collectibles.

How to Destroy Red Crystals in Horizon Forbidden West

To obtain the Igniter for destroying the Firegleam Crystals in Horizon Forbidden West, players must progress through the main storyline until reaching “Death’s Door.” During this quest, Sylens will give Aloy the schematics to explode the Red Crystals and clear the path to her objective.

Horizon Forbidden West: How to Use Face Paints

To craft the Igniter spear upgrade, Aloy will need to collect several machine parts and the oil from Kindle Weed, a plant that grows underwater. Players will be able to find Kindle Weed in the lake near the quest location. As for the machine parts, Aloy must acquire the Spark Coil from a Leaplasher’s Power Cell. Keep in mind that the Power Cell must be removed from the mechanical beast while it’s alive; otherwise, the cell will break along with the Spark Coil. Players will likely encounter several Leaplashers before receiving the schematics from Sylens. Leaplashers are strong against Shock Damage but vulnerable to Purgewater Damage.
