Those looking forward to continuing Aloy’s journey on PlayStation 5 will have to wait a little longer. Unfortunately, Horizon Forbidden West has been delayed.

Originally slated to release for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 during the Holiday season, Horizon Forbidden West has been delayed until 2022 due to complications caused by COVID. The delay was reported by Bloomberg News after the rumor was initially discussed on Jeff Grub’s Giant Bomb Podcast. Earlier this summer, Herman Hulst, head of PlayStation Studios, warned fans in an episode of the Official PlayStation Podcast that the Horizon sequel may or may not reach their timeline.

Unfortunately for PlayStation fans, Horizon Forbidden West isn’t the only exclusive to be delayed due to COVID. Fan favorite, Cory Barlog, has also announced that God of War: Ragnarok has been delayed until 2022.

Horizon Forbidden West picks up after its predecessor:

A few months back, Sony and Guerrilla Games held a showcase for Horizon Forbidden West where they showed off 14 minutes of gameplay. The gameplay showcased new weapons, enemies, abilities, and more.

The first game, Horizon: Zero Dawn, is available now on PlayStation and PC, along with its only DLC, The Frozen Wilds.
