Whatever the reason, however good a game may sound, it just doesn’t get released, and we’ve called these games “Vaporware” in the past. With all the recent problems at Crytek, despite showing what was a pretty compelling premise ahead of E3 last year, Homefront: The Revolution was starting to sound like one of those games.
Since a rash of early previews, we haven’t heard anything about Homefront: The Revolution in months. But the conversation recently sparked back up, with fans wondering if this game would ever see the light of day.
Apparently, things are going well for Homefront: The Revolution. According to Maurice Tan a Community Manager at Deep Silver who goes by the handle of Pewology on NeoGAF, “It’s not going to be vaporware.” Tan says,”Homefront: The Revolution is still in development, now under our wing at Dambuster Studios (formerly Crytek UK). Sometimes we get questions from fans if it’s going to be another Prey 2 or Duke Nukem Forever. But rest assured that the team at Dambuster is still working hard on the game and it’s not going to be vaporware.”
Homefront has been passed around quite a bit recently. When THQ went bankrupt, Crytek purchased the IP from the publisher. When Crytek started having financial troubles in 2014, Koch Media, the parent company of Deep Silver, stepped in to purchase Homefront and the Crytek UK Studio which is now Dambuster.
There’s still no ETA on Homefront: The Revolution, but retailers have 2015 placeholder release dates on it.
