Tom Henderson from Insider Gaming has reported that some screenshots from Hideo Kojima’s next game have made it to a private Discord server. The unannounced horror game is titled Overdose, and nothing else is known about it so far. The screenshots from Kojima’s new game show Margeret Qualley (Mama from Death Stranding) in blue clothes. Henderson confirmed that he had seen video footage of Overdose with Qualley in the same dress in June. He also confirmed that even though Qualley was in Death Stranding and is now in Overdose, the upcoming game is not a sequel to Death Stranding at all.
Since Kojima Productions have not officially verified the news, news of the new game should be taken with a grain of salt. But Kojima Productions had requested Henderson’s original story relating to Overdose to be taken down, providing some credit to the rumors. The original story was not taken down, but the gameplay video has not been shared yet. As for the screenshots, they were removed from the Discord server soon after showing up.
Kojima Productions’ Unannounced New Game
Kojima Productions has been dropping hints about the new game for a little while now. Multiple posters have been officially released showing some of the actors working on the project. Elle Fanning was cast in the game recently; Margaret Qualley has not yet been officially confirmed, though. So it is quite possible that either the teasers purposely omit Qualley, or they are two unrelated titles. It could be possible that the leak is from a Death Stranding sequel, something Norman Reedus (the lead in Death Stranding) has already confirmed.
Hideo Kojima has his fingers in many pies, as he is also reportedly working on a new game that will be exclusive to Xbox. Nothing is known about the project, but Henderson speculates that it is definitely related to Overdose. Irrespective of which game it is, it is an excellent time to be a Kojima fan, as it seems he is working on more than a few large-scale titles.
