Neon Genesis Evangelion tells the story of 14-year-old Shinji Ikari. He is must fight the oncoming “Angel” attack and save the world. Shinji and his fellow Eva pilots must figure out the secrets of the organization they work for. They must also discover the secrets of the Evas/Angels, and the mysteries of their own minds. The series is an example of the favorited “breakdown” anime genre.
The Possibility of a Live-Action Evangelion
In the panel, Anno confirmed that “Making a live-action video is totally different from animation. Because I can do a lot of things that I can’t do with animation, that’s why I’m really looking forward to it, I want to do things that are only possible in live-action.” Considering that Anno already confirmed that his next work is an untitled Evangelion series, fans can safely assume this is the Evangelion live-action that they’ve been waiting for.
After getting his start as an animator on Hayao Miyazaki’s Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, Anno went on to create Studio Gainax. Above all, he is mainly known for the Neon Genesis Evangelion series (1996). The series was the start of his solo career. The series itself has fostered many animated shows, manga, video games, and movie series.
