The Xbox home page will get a redesigned UI through a software update next year, and before that, some randomly picked Xbox insiders from the Alpha Skip-Ahead ring have already gotten a peek at some of the design changes coming in a few months.

Microsoft confirmed that it wants to make the Xbox UI as customizable as possible for its users. It will be changing and improving upon the design after incorporating feedback from fans.

The senior product manager lead for Xbox experiences, Ivy Krislov, said that players spend most of their time in on the homepage when interacting with the UI. And this software update will allow Xbox users to personalize that space and could let everyone organize things how they see fit.

He added that they are always “listening and learning how we can do better here while keeping your experience fast and familiar.” Because of that, Xbox is launching a series of experiments that will last a few months and try to address the top trends and fan requests.”

The Changes To The Xbox User Interface

According to Krislov, testers can see the new layout and changes designed to improve the quality of life within apps and games. System apps, visual identifiers, and the most consistent design elements are some of the most important aspects, along with the “jump back in” function that lets you get back to your game from wherever you are within the user interface.

This redesign comes after numerous other changes that Microsoft has introduced to the Xbox interface. The console has also started booting up significantly faster than before by shortening the boot-up animation. Another feature currently in development adds warning badges to the “My Games & Apps” section, which will notify users if they don’t have the license or disc for any specific games.

Looking over to team blue, PlayStation has also added some major new features to the PS5 UI. That includes 1440p support and the ability to create Gamelists. The Xbox user interface has not changed from one generation to the next, this allows it to be more mature and feature-rich while having fewer bugs. Let’s hope Sony also continues this trend.
