Fallout 4 Far Harbor is a fantastic piece of DLC for an already pretty great game. Adding an entire new landmass, Far Harbor really brings a bunch of new content to the game, while fixing many of the problems that the main campaign and its side missions had.
Unfortunately, not everyone could enjoy these things as much, as PS4 player were hounded by performance problems, many of which were extremely severe. Now, Bethesda has issued a fix for the problems, but if you want to get it you need to go through the process of re-downloading the entire DLC. To help, here’s how to fix Fallout 4 Far Harbor PS4 performance issues.
As explained by Bethesda, to fix the problems they have had to create a brand new version of the Fallout 4 Far Harbor DLC, not just issue a patch. To get this new version you need to follow these steps: “Confirm Fallout 4 is not running. Highlight Fallout 4 in your PS4 dashboard, press OPTIONS, and select CLOSE APPLICATION to ensure Fallout 4 is not running minimized. Select RELATED ITEMS. You’ll find this under the Fallout 4 icon in the PS4 dashboard. Select MY ADD-ONS. Navigate to the DOWNLOAD ARROW next to Far Harbor and select it. You should see a notice that Far Harbor has been Added to Downloads. Wait for the downloadable content to finish downloading and installing before starting Fallout 4.”
If these steps don’t work then you will have to go nuclear on the game. Delete the entire game and all of its add-on content, then re-download the whole thing. If you do this right you should be able to retain your save file info, so go about it carefully.
It is definitely unfortunate that players are having to go to such extremes to fix something that shouldn’t have been a problem in the first place. However, it is good that there is a fix, as past issues have often gone ignored, with Skyrim having some major issues running on PS3 that ended up never fully getting fixed.
