You only get one chance to make a first impression. The reactions to the first trailer in December were unbefitting for the rebooted Hellboy movie, starring Stranger Things’ David Harbour as the titular demon. Many felt it was out-of-whack with expectations, anticipating something more in line with the Guillermo del Toro films. However, this new trailer seems to be more engaging for fans. With action, supernatural feel and the everloving sarcastic humor Hellboy always carries with him. As you can see in the trailer below his humor doesn’t disappoint.

The rated R film is sure to bring us some excitement with the addition of new cast to the Dark Horse universe. The villain in this storyline is Milla Jovovich as the Nimue Blood Queen. It seems as another storyline with the end of the human race in mind, with an evil, romantic twist though?

All in all, I think it is an excellent start to the film as long as we remember to keep it and David Harbour separate from their predecessors.

I have all of  Mike Magnolias Dark Horse comics, and he is honestly one of my favorite heroes. Many fans like myself, knew him even before Ron Pearlman brought him to life. But most became fans after the Demon came on screen. Ron Pearlman’s Hellboy sets the bar pretty high, and unfortunately, he reports not being apart of this new creative process. Hellboy is a relatable hero in a lot of ways. We need to remember that each homage to him is unique and try to go into each new project for him with an open mind.

This reboot comes 15 years after Del Toro’s first Hellboy movie, which starred Ron Perlman, and 26 years after the character’s first appearance. Hellboy comes out April 12.

Do you like Hellboy? How do you feel about the new reboot?
