Game of Thrones fans, assemble! Today HBO tweeted all new photos for the highly anticipated House Of The Dragon series, and it has the internet going wild! In a series of tweets, HBO gave us a look at the House Of The Dragon cast and a new poster with a release date of August 21st, confirming that the show will keep the Game Of Thrones tradition of premiering on Sunday nights.

Here’s A First Look At The Series Cast

The first photo was a poster that depicts a dragon looming behind a smoldering dragon egg, a nod to house Targaryen, who will be the series’s main focus. The Targaryens are not only Dragonriders but also use the dragon to represent their family’s house, so this poster correlates to the show in more ways than one.

Next, HBO gave us an exclusive look at the show’s main cast:

Say hello to (in order from top left):

  • Paddy Considine as King Viserys Targaryen.
  • Rhys Ifans as Otto Hightower.
  • Sonoya Mizuno as Mysaria.
  • Steve Toussaint and Eve Best as Lord Corlys Velaryon and Princess Rhaenys Targaryen.
  • Fabien Frankel as Ser Criston Cole.
  • Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen.
  • Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower.
  • And Emma D’Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen.

What To Expect From The Game Of Thrones Prequel

House of The Dragon will be based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood–a spin-off to the Game Of Thrones novels. The novel journeys the history of the Targaryen dynasty from Aegon the Conqueror to the Mad King Aerys II. The show will focus on The Dying Of The Dragons, a violent period of war and betrayal that pitted the Targaryen house against one another. House Of The Dragon is meant to be a prequel to the Game of Thrones series (Fire & Blood takes place some 300 years before) and will not feature any of the original cast of characters, so we won’t get to see the Mother of Dragons this time around.

Mark your calendars, GOT fans: House of The Dragon will premiere on HBO Max on Sunday, August 21st.
