HBO Max’s Batgirl has officially started production and has announced three new cast members to the production: Ethan Kai, Rebecca Front, and Corey Johnson. Batgirl is set to be an HBO Max Original movie and already has a stellar cast. Batgirl’s cast includes Leslie Grace in the iconic role of Barbara Gordon, aka Batgirl. It was already announced that J.K. Simmons will play her father, Commissioner Gordon, in the film.

HBO Max’s Batgirl cast will also star Michael Keaton as he will be reprising his iconic role of Bruce Wayne, aka Batman. Michael Keaton is set to return as the role of Batman in the upcoming film, The Flash, set to come out later this year. Michael Keaton hasn’t played the role of Batman since Batman Returns in 1992. Brendan Fraser has also been cast as Garfield Lynns. Fraser will play the villain role of Firefly. Firefly first appeared in Detective Comics # 184 in 1952. He is an arsonist in the comics.

Corey Johnson is known for his works in X-Men: First Class, The Bourne Legacy, Kingsman: The Secret Service, and will be starring in the upcoming Morbius, which is set to come out in April. Morbius will also star Michael Keaton in an unknown role. Rebecca Front is known for her works in Doctor Who, Transformers: The Last Knight, The Aeronauts, and Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard. And Ethan Kai is known for his works in Emmerdale Farm and Killing Eve.

DC has two anticipated movies coming out later this year with The Flash, set for November, and Aquaman 2, set for December. Batgirl is currently in production but has no release date set. It has been slated for this year, but it is hard to say if this year is definite with recent pushbacks due to the pandemic. There is no announcement for a theatrical release. 

Batgirl is set to stream on HBO Max later this year.
