Natsume’s latest installation to its Harvest Moon series, One World, is getting a late arrival on Nintendo Switch and Playstation 4. The game that was meant to drop this fall is moving to a different schedule in different parts of the world. The new installment will come into North America on March 2, 2021, and March 5 in Europe. Players who were able to pre-order at GameStop will receive a cute plushie chicken as a bonus.
According to Hiro Maekawa, Natsume’s President and CEO, the COVID-19 pandemic hit everyone in the world in many ways. This included the production of Harvest Moon: One World, but he assured that his team is dedicated to bringing a great game that promises “Serious Fun.” On the game’s official release about its delay, they shared that the video industry’s standard practices were shaken up with the “new normal.” Nevertheless, they will continue to make family-friendly games that they are known for.
As of this writing, the team is actively releasing Harvest Moon: One World available bachelors and bachelorettes on their official Twitter. A player can play either as a young man or woman with a chance to fall in love and start a family with five bachelor or bachelorettes that are available in the game.
Together with the news about the game’s delay on its arrival, Natsume also shared four new screenshots of the game. It will show how the female farmer is tending to her turnip field, the male farmer’s interaction with Laura – a bachelorette, the female farmer’s interaction with Kanoa – a bachelor, and the male farmer riding an elk inside the barn with a horse and a goat.
Let us remind you that the Harvest Moon series is different from the Story of Seasons series (formerly known as Harvest Moon). Story of Seasons was by Victor Interactive Software (currently Marvelous) and is responsible for Harvest Moon on SNES in 1996 and other Harvest Moon series until Harvest Moon 3D: A New Beginning. In 2012, Marvelous discontinued its licensing with Natsume and started Story of Seasons. On the other hand, Natsume maintained the rights to the Harvest Moon series name and developed its own series of Harvest Moon. This created a big confusion for Harvest Moon fans, but nevertheless, Natsume did retain the same life and farm simulation in the game.
