Rumors have been spreading around the web that Halo Infinite might be the highest costing and largest project in gaming history. The Xbox One title would even out budget Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption 2.

Xbox Dynasty, a German website, has been the main source of the Halo Infinite rumor. This was based from a German podcast recorded at GDC where the gossip began. The site stated:

Xbox Dynasty also mentioned industry analyst, Michael Pachter as he talked about Red Dead Redemption 2 employee costs. He briefly went over the overall cost for each employee working with the studio. This would amount to around $170 million and that’s not including other part-time employees for the company. Red Dead Redemption 2 took 8 and a half years to develop. To even imagine 343 Industries blockbuster title to reach that height of production value would be unobtainable.

Alas, Xbox Dynasty has been known for making unreliable notions – like Major Nelson tweet over Xbox games coming to Nintendo Switch. The likelihood of this rumor being valid this should probably be taken lightly. Although, this is 343 Industries in correlation with Microsoft we are talking about here. So the possibility of Halo Infinite could, in fact, be using a higher budget.

Halo Infinite was announced by Microsoft to begin where Halo 5 left off and tie the whole series together. Thus, making it the 6th title in the franchise. No initial release date has been set in stone for Halo Infinite as of yet. Although, speculating on how 343 Industries would release a Halo game after every three or four years. Game titles nowadays do have a tendency to get pushed back as well. Halo Infinite will be coming out for PC and Xbox One.
