And Xbox One?
Closing out their massive E3 2019 showcase, Microsoft closed with news about their brand new console, Project Scarlett, as well as their biggest franchise: Halo. Project Scarlett, the new console to take the mantle of “most powerful in the world” from Xbox One X will hit stores in Holiday 2020. Along with it will come the highly anticipated Halo Infinite.
So far it’s not entirely clear what all of this means though. The Project Scarlett reveal was heavy on buzzwords and light on details. The Halo Infinite trailer that followed didn’t really clear things up either. Featuring a lonely and lost ship captain who discovers Master Chief floating in the debris of a destroyed Halo ring, the trailer was heavy on suspense, but action and details were still sparse.
We know that Halo Infinite will be a vast departure from the games we’ve seen before in the franchise. With open environments that break from the mold of past entries. This trailer though was very confined, showing only two locations, both of which didn’t really expand on what we already knew about the game. Still, anything more we see from the game is great. But the big question now is, will Halo Infinite still come to Xbox One?
It’s announced as a launch title for Project Scarlett, or whatever this new console ends up being named. With the supposed death of console generations, it’s more likely to be a cross-platform title. We’ll have to wait until Microsoft confirms that though.
