Ever since Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo has been the go-to console FPS for multiplayer parties. While you can play online PVP multiplayer just fine with the free-to-play, standalone Halo Infinite multiplayer version, there are still issues regarding local splitscreen co-op in the game. Continue reading below to learn how to set up the splitscreen feature in Halo Infinite.

Halo Infinite: How to Play Splitscreen in PvP Mode

PVP splitscreen is currently only accessible on the Xbox One and Xbox Series X family of consoles, and it requires several Xbox accounts. However, many players are currently reporting problems with the system, mostly regarding playing with Guest accounts. Here’s how you can add splitscreen co-op partners in Halo Infinite PVP mode:

  • Go to the Multiplayer Lobby screen.
  • With the second controller, press the Menu button. Sign in to a different Xbox account than the player one.
  • Player two should now be connected.
  • Halo Infinite supports PVP splitscreen for up to four players in 4v4 Arena or Quick Play mode and only up to 2 players for Big Team Battle. Repeat the steps until four players all with different accounts are connected.

343 Industries has promised that the PC version of Halo Infinite will also support splitscreen mode. We will update this article once the feature drops.

How to Play Splitscreen Co-Op in Campaign Mode

343 had already announced that the co-op feature for Halo Infinite Campaign will be added in Season 2. But the launch of Season 2 itself has been delayed for up to six months and might begin in May 2022 instead of March as it was previously planned. With that in mind, both Xbox and PC players will have to wait until around halfway next year to explore Zeta Halo with their friends. We will update this article once online and splitscreen campaign co-op is added into the game.

Nevertheless, a Twitter user @nobleactual has found a glitch that lets you play Halo Infinite in co-op splitscreen on Xbox… with several caveats: One, player two will have no HUD elements. Second, FOBs and story levels are broken. Third, it’s not really easy to do. Fourth, doing this will completely wipe your saves.

If you’re ready to delete your save in a hard but fun way, then follow nobleactual’s step-by-step below:

  • Start Halo Infinite in offline mode.
  • Connect the second controller then sign the second controller to an Xbox account.
  • With the first controller/player one’s, start the Campaign mode.
  • Once you’re in-game, hit Start and then Back.
  • On the second controller, hit start to add the second player to the Fireteam.
  • If you did it correctly then you should activate the Halo Infinite co-op glitch.

Halo Infinite is now available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
