Xbox Game Pass subscribers on PC might encounter a rather weird bug when trying to launch Halo Infinite through the Xbox app. After you click the Play button in the Xbox app, instead of running Halo Infinite, your PC will instead open a Windows Store window and show you a weird page about Xbox Gaming Service. To make things worse, the usual trick of restarting the Xbox app or PC still won’t let you run the game!

I understand your frustration because I also ran into the same problem. Thankfully, Reddit user ieatblackbean has found a fix to the issue. Here’s how you can fix the Xbox Gaming Service bug and continue your great journey in Halo Infinite.

Halo Infinite: How to Fix the Xbox Gaming Services App Bug

  • Open the Windows Start menu and search for the Apps & features menu, you can also press the Windows Key + I simultaneously as a shortcut.
  • Select the Apps tab, and look for Halo Infinite in the application list. You can do that by typing in “Halo Infinite” in the search bar or scrolling down the list until you find it.
  • Click on Halo Infinite to reveal Advanced options settings. Click the blue text.
  • Look for the Reset button and click it.
  • Halo Infinite will be gone from your Xbox app library but don’t panic!
  • Search for the game again in the Store tab of your Xbox app, pick Install.
  • Do not worry, even though the app asked to re-download the whole 20GB game again, it won’t download anything.
  • Go back to your Library in the Xbox app and Halo Infinite icon will show up again.
  • Try launching the game again, you should be able to play it at this point.

Halo Infinite is now available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
