The box art for the upcoming blockbuster shooter Halo Infinite has been revealed by developer 343 Industries, arriving ahead of a campaign reveal planned for tomorrow, July 23. The artwork shows the series’ protagonist Master Chief in a combat-prepared stance, standing in a vast field with a shattered Halo installation in the background.

The box art is beautiful at a glance, but there are also some very interesting details if you look closer. On the Chief’s left wrist, you can see what appears to be a grappling hook, which may lend some credibility to recent gameplay rumors. Additionally, in the reflection of Master Chief’s visor, you can see what appears to be Halo Infinite’s villain. This big brute is likely a member of “The Banished,” an antagonist alien faction confirmed to appear in the game last month in a new trailer. It is also speculated that this character is Hyperious, a character that leaked earlier this month by Mega Bloks’ Halo Infinite series of toys.

Freelancer Jordan Oloman shared the close-up on Twitter, so you can see and speculate for yourself.

Halo Infinite’s box art shares an uncanny resemblance to that of the original game, as pointed out by IGN Editor Ryan McCaffrey. It’s likely an intentional throwback to the first installment for fans that have been supporting the franchise since the beginning.

One. More. Sleep.

And I DEFINITELY see what they’re going for here…? pic.twitter.com/fThSLixfz0

You can expect to see more on Halo Infinite during the Xbox Games Showcase tomorrow, which will feature footage of the game’s campaign mode. There are many wallpapers available to download from Halo Waypoint’s XGS 2020 press kit, which was published earlier today. Xbox Division Lead Phil Spencer recently hinted at the game embracing the “live service” trend and receiving a long lifespan of updates.

Halo Infinite is co-developed by 343 Industries and SkyBox Labs and is set to release on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X in late 2020.
