Half Life 3 has seen its fair share of rumors in recent weeks.  After a tour of the Valve offices shed light on the next iteration of Source Engine, and Left 4 Dead 3 got caught on camera, many assumed that it was just a matter of time before we heard more about Half Life 3 as well.

Though according to John Patrick Lowrie, one Valve’s go-to guys when it comes to voice acting, Half Life 3 isn’t in development right now because of problems Valve is facing in development decisions for the game.  “As far as I know they are not developing HL3 now for several reasons, among them the mo-cap isssue,” said Lowrie on his blog.

“The biggest challenge with bringing out Half-Life 3 the big thing now with FPSs is motion capture, or mo-cap.  One of the great things about Half Life 2 is that all of the characters that you meet actually look at you when they talk to you no matter where you go or stand.  With mo-cap you can’t do that, at least not yet.”
