Hacking Microsoft’s Kinect controller is quite popular right now. With the future very bright for the technology, many companies have been looking for engineers to gain entry into the field.
Recently, an open source PC driver was created, turning Kinect into a USB device that is usable on PC. Since then, developers have been creating new and unique ways to use the controller. In just over a month, hackers have managed to turn the Kinect into many things, showing the many practical and impractical uses for the device.
From a Windows 7 controller, to a giant virtual keyboard, there have been no limits to what is possible (except good games).
With the consumer market still in the first inning of the game, the opportunities seem to be endless to those who are able to build projects for the technology.
Hopefully, actual game developers start working on things to do with the device as it’s been a pretty long, painful, and costly wait for new games that harness this new technology in a way that makes games fun and actual work.
