Rockstar is said to be revealing the box art for Grand Theft Auto V shortly, but apparently this artwork may have already been leaked. Users on the Rockstar Newswire recently noticed that a billboard was being quietly erected in Manhattan for Grand Theft Auto V. The art looks to be a painted mural on the side of a building, similar to previous iterations of Grand Theft Auto box art.
Shortly thereafter, another user on the Rockstar site posted an image that aligns with the work in progress, which is said to be the unannounced artwork for Grand Theft Auto V.
Is this the box art for GTA V? The Newswire seems to think so, and we’ve been forwarded a picture of it below. The panels do line up with the billboard, but there are a few inconsistencies. The quality in the top left and right panels don’t seem to be box art worthy, and there’s no telling if this was put together from fans that have gotten a good look at the billboard as it’s being completed, or if it’s just a rough copy.
Either way, we’ll likely have our answer when the billboard is completed, and/or Rockstar decides to reveal the box art on their own. It shouldn’t be long, Grand Theft Auto is due out this September for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Update: Box art has been confirmed official by Rockstar
