Facebook has been pioneering much of the virtual reality gaming market. After buying Oculus in 2014 for a measly two billion dollars, Facebook has been laser-focused on the market since. Pouring more money into new studios creating unique and interesting gameplay, Oculus hasn’t stopped pushing the technology even further. With exclusive releases like Capcom’s Resident Evil 4 and Rock Band VR, there’s already a healthy stream of content. Now, it seems that Oculus is pushing exclusives even further than before. This morning, Facebook announced one of the latest titles in development. Rockstar Games announced it will remake GTA San Andreas in VR for the Oculus Quest 2.

Experience the iconic, open-world of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas in an entirely new way. This @RockstarGames classic is in development for Oculus Quest 2. More details soon. #FBConnect https://t.co/fMPTmTFv6W pic.twitter.com/bz6YFGxRHH

When Will VR GTA San Andreas Release for Oculus Quest 2?

Fans have been curious about what Rockstar has been developing as of late. This news certainly comes at a surprise after the trilogy remake announcement. Many fans expected Rockstar was finished with remaking their classic games. Despite other games Rockstar could remake, it seems they’re putting most of their attention into this VR title. Details are still sparse about the project’s goals and overall ideas going into production. The official blog post on the Oculus website states that GTA San Andreas VR has been in development for some time. The team seems confident in what they have built thus far and is looking forward to showing more at a later date. Rockstar more than likely wants to give time for the trilogy collection to sell before revealing what’s to come. Perhaps during The Game Awards this December, fans will get an idea of how Los Santos looks in VR. Be sure to check back for more news on the GTA San Andreas VR title.
