It appears the remastered trilogy is all but confirmed.

Evidence of the GTA Remastered Trilogy has been spotted within the files of the Rockstar Launcher app. For a long time, it has been rumored that a remaster of GTA 3, GTA: Vice City, and GTA: San Andreas is on the way. Data obtained from files within the Rockstar Launcher app lends further credibility to the rumors and suggests that the remasters may be coming sooner rather than later.

GTA 3, GTA: Vice City, and GTA: San Andreas are often collectively referred to as the HD trilogy. Although these titles are available to be played on consoles, the ports have often been considered lackluster. Hence, rumors of a full remaster of these games were surrounded with excitement. Although Rockstar has yet to confirm or deny the existence of the remasters, the latest findings seem to confirm that they are coming soon.

As Ben, a popular reporter on Rockstar-related news, mentions on Twitter, an update to Rockstar Launcher seems to be preparing the app for the GTA Remastered Trilogy. Within the files, there is mention made of GTA 3, GTA: Vice City, and GTA: San Andreas. There is also mention made of Unreal, which suggests that the games are being remade using Unreal Engine. BS_BlackScout also found icons for the three games hidden within Rockstar Launcher’s files. The icons have gold borders, suggesting that these are icons for the remasters.

The GTA HD trilogy would not be the only Grand Theft Auto title getting a remaster. Rockstar has announced the release of GTA V Expanded & Enhanced edition which is set to drop in March 2022. The game is being ported to the PS5 and the Xbox Series X/S. The remaster will feature both technical and graphical improvements, and PS5 players will be able to claim GTA: Online for free for the first 3 months.

The GTA Remaster Trilogy has yet to be confirmed by Rockstar or given a release date.
