While I usually go through the pleasantries of giving a bit of background, we’re all for the most part aware of exactly what GTA Online is. Nearly everyone and their dog has played it at some point in their life, it being a sprawling open-world for you and your friends to complete missions, cause havoc, and earn massive amounts of cash in. At least, most of us would like to believe that beyond the heavy grind underneath to unlock everything, the exorbitant amount of modders and the lack of proper security to prevent DDoS attacks and things of the sort. But alas it’s nothing to worry about, as Rockstar is planning to fix the first and most important one with exactly what all of you have been asking for, a GTA Online subscription service named GTA+ for both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S owners!

This subscription will cost you $5.99 per month and score you an exclusive set of benefits. These include a whopping $500k per month, a car combined with a Hao’s Special Works upgrade that is exclusive to GTA+ subscription service owners for a limited time, a waiving of the incredibly high $50000 fee to enter the LS Car Meet, increased rewards from Hao’s Special Works race series/Street Race series missions, and most excitingly of all, a brand new shirt, hat, and shorts!

Alright, that’s enough of the sarcasm on my part. It goes without saying that if you’ve played GTA Online in the past year, you know these rewards are almost kind of laughable given the state of the game. When modders can easily mod in millions of dollars using a simple workaround of spawning hundreds of bags on top of you, and $50000 is mere chump change, it’s hard to see the benefit of frankly any of this beyond Rockstar’s financial gain. They even go as far as to offer those currently subscribed additional money from their Shark Card purchases, if you needed more proof this was strictly to squeeze the cash cow further. How the GTA community reacts to this remains to be seen given we just got the announcement, but I’m fairly confident the reception is going to be pretty volatile.

But hey, at least Rockstar is taking one baby step towards fixing just one of the mode’s problems, right?
