Grand Theft Auto is a series that has amazing mods. We’ve seen a lot of great mod expansions for the game, and they’re upscaling the quality of the game. But the series’ publisher, Take-Two, mostly doesn’t like these expansions. We’ve heard that Take-Two sent DMCA claims to the mod developers before. The same thing is happening for the GTA 5 VR mod now.

Gamers protested the company before, but they didn’t step back for these claims so far. The mod brought a VR experience to the game, and its gameplay was published on YouTube. The video didn’t get many views yet, but Take-Two didn’t ignore it.

Take-Two Sent DMCA Claim to the GTA 5 VR Mod Developers

According to Kotaku, Take-Two sent a claim to the developers. The team who made the VR mod is a double, and they’re about to face serious legal trouble. DMCA claim says the developers used the GTA 5’s content without required permissions, and it’s not just a basic warning. That legal trouble might cause bad if Take-Two doesn’t step back.

The developers also released different mods for other games. They even had a mod for Red Dead Redemption 2, and they’ve got a support that can’t be underestimated. Take-Two didn’t send any other DMCA claims for the other games, but they’re mad about the team’s latest work.

The developers’ biggest advantage is the support of the GTA 5 community. Take-Two faced negative reactions when they sent DMCA claims to the other developers in the past. The reactions from social media will be the greatest weapon of the modders.

Studios like Bethesda are helping the developers to make the games even better. Skyrim is one of the best examples of that. We even heard Bethesda hired developers to create mods for their games. That is praiseworthy, but Take-Two chooses not to follow this way.
