PlayStation Production and Scott Free productions have confirmed that they have started working on a Gravity Rush movie that will be based upon the action-adventure game that came out in 2012. Anna Mastro will be directing the movie, while Emily Jerome is working on the script, reported Dice.

The Gravity Rush film is based on the game developed by Japan Studio’s Project Siren and was published by Sony. The game puts players in the shoes of Kat, a girl that has lost her memories but has the ability to control gravity. She uses her powers to protect the people of Hekseville and fights monsters called the Nevi.

The Movie’s Details

The producer for the Gravity Rush movie has not been confirmed as of yet. It is also not certain if Sony will be distributing the movie once it comes out. But since it is Sony’s intellectual property, it is likely that Sony will be involved.

Anna Mastro was recently the co-executive producer on the Secret Society of Second Born Royals on Disney+ which was released in 2020. She has also worked on other series in the past like In The Dark, L.A.’s Finest, The Rookies, Runaways, Walter, and Gossip Girl, among others. Jerome is best known for her work on Black List in 2017, the writer is expanding her scope, to say the least when it comes to the Gravity Rush movie.

Gravity Rush Games

The Gravity Rush games were fairly successful, but these days are considered an underrated classic. The series pushed the boundaries of gaming at the time, giving players the ability to fly around using Kat’s gravity powers with nearly no limits. With the open-game design and the somewhat anime-inspired aesthetic, the games have aged fairly well. While no new game has been announced in the series since Gravity Rush 2 in 2017, here’s to hoping the franchise makes a return to gaming consoles as well.
